Aaron has been writing songs since he was a kid. But his first songs to be recorded were on By The Tree's album, "World On Fire." As a primary songwriter for the band, he worked on his skills to craft songs that connect. Since then, his songs have been featured on albums and movie soundtracks and used on network TV.
We Are The Hands (click to listen)
Written with James Tealy, this song brings a compelling message that reminds Christians to do whatever it takes to reach the lost and broken with the gospel. Aaron said, "It's our job as believers to be the hands and feet of Christ, and that's why we wrote this song—as a sort of clarion call to Christians all over the world."
Worship The Lord (click to listen)
This Christmas song, originally featured in his home church's Christmas Eve services, brings the Christmas story to the forefront and does so with a timeless melody and feel. Recalling this song's beginning, Aaron said, "This was one of those songs that sort of fell into place in an hour. They're not all like that, but I'm sure glad this one was. When we introduced It, people started singing it right away and lifting their hands in worship, and I was undone. What a moment."
What Love Can Do (click to listen)
During the production of the independent film, "Not Today," Aaron was approached to write a feature song for the credits. Working again with veteran writer James Tealy the target was clear—write a song about what love can do. Aaron recounts the story's song this way, "When we sat down to write this song, we knew we wanted to sing about the power of love when we display it—give it away as Christ-followers. After a few failed attempts to be clever, we settled on just saying it clearly and simply. That turned out to be just what the song needed. Kari Jobe ended up singing it on the final version, and that was a career highlight for sure. She brought the song to life!"
Various TV Placements
Working alongside bandmate and LA producer Bobby Hartry, Aaron's newest venture is in TV/film, where his original songs can be heard on various shows on network TV.
"Writing with other people is one of my favorite things to do. Songs almost always turn out better because of the collaborative process. And in the crowded world of music these days, we need to write and release our best songs." —Aaron
